The Gaming Giant Recruits Popular Battle Royale Developer to Rescue Troubled Action Game Ambitious Title

The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Management Shift Follows Lukewarm Response

Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster initial reveal last autumn.

On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure notified team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which emphasized that playtesting had indicated the need for a more defined vision.

Ismailer expressed that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a revised vision, aiming to address gamer demands.

A Pattern of Key Hires

This announcement follows a similar move taken by the publisher in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Below is the full message from Ismailer's memo:

Dear Team—

I understand you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the good news. Last time I sent you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this team. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative designers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re looking forward for that partnership to endure.”

Given your hard work and flexibility, especially over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.

The community feedback from last autumn’s the game testing phase was revealing. It affirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a more distinct brand.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the criticism to heart and overhauled Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s ready to fulfill its ambition to our fans.

The trust in this project increases every day. To further the incredible development you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of the team. After several months of discussions, he officially joins us on the specified date.

Ben’s management and expertise in the PVP shooter field is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years developing and leading some of the most popular titles in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in greeting Ben soon. We are all eager to continue seeing the development of the game in the time to follow.

David

Title Information and Vision

Project Ethos was revealed in last year together with a public demo. At the time, the developers presented the title as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an innovative evolution on the genre."

"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in real-time to match your preferred approach," the description reads. "Take on the rivals with fresh skills, stakes, and tests that change every session. Will you withdraw carefully with your collected items? Alternatively go big, gamble everything, and pray your group can achieve the highest spot? The choice is yours."

The game lacks an announced debut schedule or supported systems, but enthusiasts can anticipate additional details as production progresses.
